General Guidelines and Policies

By entering an event or program of Discovery Lab, you are entering an area where photography, audio and video recording may occur for marketing and promotional purposes. 

Discovery Lab is home to a delicious on-site cafe, Bean Sprouts, where guests can relax with coffee, snacks, meals, sweet treats and more! Discovery Lab has a beautiful outdoor amphitheater where guests are welcome to eat, mingle, and use as a meeting point, as long as there are no events taking place. Food and drinks are not allowed in the exhibit hall.

The parking lot entrance for guests is off of 31st Street. Parking spots wrap around the amphitheater to the east side of the building. Overflow parking is availalbe south of the building in a gravel lot marked for the Gathering Place. Building entrances are on the east and west side (Riverside Drive) of the building.

The field trip bus drop-off can be accessed from Riverside Drive, northbound. Bus parking is available in overflow parking, south of the building in a gravel lot marked for the Gathering Place. 

Pictures and videos of your child learning and playing are welcome for personal use only.

Check with the front desk to recieve a stamp to show on your return. 

Elevators and ramps are located in the exhibit hall. 

There is no designated space for strollers.

When the number of guests in the building reaches 500, we hit our capacity. Guests planning to visit should plan ahead of time. Our busy times are on weekends, holidays, and school breaks. 

1. Download the “eMembership Card” App from your Apple App store or Google Play Store.

2. Select the Discovery Lab tile and click "Find My Membership Card."

3. Enter:

- The phone number associated with your membership.

-Your last name.

4. Click "Download My Cards" to save them to your app.

Yes! Discovery Lab is a proud member of the Association of Science - Technology Centers (ASTC) and participates in the ASTC Travel Passport Program. Guests who are current members of a qualified ASTC institution may receive free admission for up to two (2) adults (ages 13+) and two (2) children (ages 3-12). This reciprocal admission benefit does not apply to guests whose residence or home museum is within 90 miles of Discovery Lab. To receive this benefit, guests must present a valid membership card for their home institution as well as a valid photo ID with current address.
Yes! Same-day re-entry is allowed. Please visit the front desk in the lobby to get your hand stamped for re-entry.

Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Years Eve (ticketed event), January 4 (Staff Training) and the Discovery Lab annual gala, April 29, 2023.The museum is open on all other federal holidays, including New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, and Veterans Day.
  • Monday: 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
  • Tuesday - Saturday: - 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday: 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Members-only Monday Mornings: 9:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M.

Nope! Our new location is fit to hold up to 500 visitors. Just come on in and pay admissions at the front desk. 

On weekends, holidays, and school breaks the museum can tend to get busy.
