Ballapalooza

Charles & Peggy Stephenson Family Foundation

With a nod to the rich oil and gas history of the region, Ballapalooza takes systems thinking and collaboration to a new high. Working together, visitors must figure out the system of simple machines and exhibit components to move balls from the exhibit floor all the way to the oil derrick. You are sure to have a ball!

Central Gallery

The Anne Zarrow

This is where it all began! The Central Gallery houses the “Taj Mahal” of tape tunnels that are fun for all ages. Use this central point as a meeting place to plan your experience and scope out your next adventure among the towering tunnels.

Energy

Energy powers our lives. Alternative energy sources are featured in this exhibit inspiring visitors to investigate how long they can keep a flywheel charged, how fast they can race a solar roller coaster, and how much power they can generate from a wind turbine. This experience will inspire critical thinking and problem solving using engineering and technology.

The Bertlesmeyer, Snapp, and Westbrock Families

The Helmerich Trust presents Rock It! Rock It is a hands-on exploration of current questions in the forefront of modern geology. Visitors will explore hot spots, try to predict an earthquake and investigate the magnetic polarity of the earth. You might even shake things up in this Discovery Lab original experience.

HydroLab

The DeKraai Family

Enter Gizmo’s underwater world in his steampunk submarine. Here you can write your name in the water wall, launch rockets, and build up pressure in the water target gallery. You will explore water in several states as you “plumb fog” during a visit to Fog Island.

Imaginarium

The Anita and Gary Rathburn Family

An immersive environment awaits where a seamless, projected reality around you responds to your every movement. Four Oklahoma landscapes are the setting for this adventure that will change at every visit.

Math and Music

Frequency and tempo show off in many different musical waves. See and hear the differences that amplitude and wavelength make while composing a song on the MIDI Table, spinning turntables, and swinging in the Hammock Chimes. The Strobe Speaker is a show-stopping wave that appears to stop or flow upwards depending on the frequency of the connected speaker. Visitors will be inspired to wonder about the physics they hear all around them.

Science Lab

The Patricia & Donald Hardin Family

The Science Lab is an opportunity to explore the sciences, including biology, chemistry, and physics. An experienced museum educator is always present in this space as visitors experiment with the monthly theme and the activity of the day. This space also affords opportunities to explore science in the news and make connections with scientific phenomena applicable to everyday life.

The WorkShop

The Grandchildren of Kathy Craft Mowry

The WorkShop is an ever-changing challenge lab where visitors use real tools and crazy materials to find new ways to solve presented challenges. Themes will change monthly, but the opportunities for engagement and education will always be on tap. There are always many solutions to each problem and creativity, innovation and critical thinking will be tools in your arsenal.

Little Lab

Designed with our littlest learners in mind, the Little Lab is a space for children four and under and their parents or caregivers can make discoveries and explore their environment in a spot that is developmentally designed just for them.
