Camps FAQ

FALL, WINTER AND SPRING BREAK CAMPS

Please register your child for the grade in which they are enrolled at the time of the upcoming camp. Fall, Winter and Spring Break Camps align with most school calendars, so determining which camp to register for is as simple as selecting your child's grade in school!

SUMMER CAMPS

Your camper should be registered for the grade they are entering in Fall 2023.

For Pre-K and Kindergarten camps, campers must be born on or before September 1st, 2018. It is best if they have completed a year of Pre-K prior to their participation in a summer camp to set them up for success.

Discovery Lab reserves the right to cancel your camp reservation if your child does not meet the age requirement of the camp.

We will have designated drop-off and pick-up lanes and short-term parking spots clearly marked on the north side of the building. If you plan on staying to play after you pick your camper(s) up, you may park in the Discovery Lab parking lot or in the gravel lot south of the museum.

If you are enrolling multiple children in the same camp, you will need to register each child separately, at the full price of the camp. Spaces are limited and each individual camper fills one camp space.

Lunch, snacks, and water will be provided. Make sure that campers wear comfortable clothes they can move around in. They should bring excitement, imagination, and a willingness to have fun! If your child has any medications or dietary restrictions, please let us know in the Camp Release agreement and bring any necessities on their first day of camp.

ALL medication (prescription, non-prescription, vitamins, supplements, etc.) must be checked in with museum staff upon arrival at camp and stored securely in the original container with the prescription label showing the correct dosage. Campers with emergency immediate-use medication (e.g. EpiPens or rescue inhalers) may carry the medication on their person, or may give the medication to the Camp Educator or Camp Assistant for safe keeping (not to a fellow student camper). Liability & Medical Release Forms must accurately reflect the medication(s) to be dispensed at camp.

Drop-off begins at 8:50 and all camps begin at 9. Pick-up begins at 11:50 and ends at 12 for Pre-K and Kindergarten camps.  All other camp pick-up begins at 3:50 and ends at 4. If you need to drop your child off late or pick them up early, please let our staff know via email (reservations@discoverylab.org) or in-person.

If you signed your child up for before and/or after care, they will be dropped off/picked up in the same marked stairwell. Your child will have free playtime in the museum with supervision. You may drop your child off between 8 and 9 and pick them up no later than 5.

Drop-off and pick-up will be at your child’s classroom. Enter through the marked stairwell adjacent to the main lobby, where adults picking up will be asked to show photo identification. Parents will drop campers off and pick them up at their classrooms for added security and a chance to connect with your camper’s educator (and take a peek at the action!).

Campers will have opportunities to play outside (weather permitting) and on the museum floor during their camp experience. If your child leaves wanting more, you are welcome to stay and play after pick-up at no additional cost to you and your camper. Extra visitors will need to pay admission.

Discovery Lab is committed to providing a safe, fun, and friendly environment for our

students and staff. To keep this commitment, Discovery Lab asks all campers to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Respect for your child will be demonstrated at all times and Discovery Lab expects the same respect from your child for his/her peers and camp staff.
  • In the case of disrespectful, harmful, or belligerent behavior by any child, after appropriate re-directions and warnings are given, parents will be contacted and the child may not be allowed to return to camp.

» A handwashing station is locatied in each clasroom.

Camp registrations are non-refundable within 10 days of the start of the camp. Cancellations made more than 10 days before the start of camp are subject to a partial refund, less a $25 registration fee.

Discovery Lab reserves the right to cancel your camp reservation if your child does not meet the age requirement of the camp.

The above cancellation policy will apply to camps cancelled because the child does not meet the age requirement. Discovery Lab reserves the right to cancel a camp based on registration numbers. Registrants of a cancelled camp will receive advance written notice as well as a full refund.
